The early Shuttle Bus service to Whangarei Boys High School Bus Bay has been temporarily suspended. (updated 7th March 2023)
Te Kamo High School is well served by a network of free Ministry of Education bus runs, fare-paying services. New students will get bus information on Orientation Day, but it is well worth ringing the bus contractor to check times and exact pick up points if you have further questions.
This service is provided by the Ministry of Education for students who generally live outside the Te Kamo area (more than 4.8 km from the School). The transport is free from Te Kamo out to the mid-way point of the next nearest secondary school. Beyond this point students may be responsible for their own transport or may need to pay a fee. Students inside the 4.8km are expected by the Ministry of Education to use city fare-paying services or find their own way to school.
Students living outside the KAMO ZONE but on a MOE bus route
Students who do not attend their nearest high school but choose to attend KHS will be able to travel on available Ministry buses (where the student has gained MoE permission and there is room on them). This is by mutual agreement amongst most of the local secondary schools. These students will have to pay a nominal set fare to travel to their nearest local high school and then travel the rest of the way to Te Kamo High School on our pay "link" buses. So, for example, students East of Whangarei can travel on a Ministry bus as far as WBHS/WGHS or Tikipunga Sports Grounds, and then travel the rest of the way to Te Kamo High School on our pay "link" buses.
An additional route, SL3 Onerahi to Whangarei Boys and Girls High, is also under consideration. Students should continue to use the existing bus provided by the Ministry of Education for now.
