Hair & Beauty
Kamo High School Hair & Beauty course offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in learning that directly links to specific career paths. The Hair & Beauty course consists of the HITO (Hair & Beauty Industry Training Organisation) standards and allows students to experience practical and theory based learning at NCEA Level 2, as well as the opportunity for work placements. Students will also gain Numeracy and Literacy at NCEA Level 1, and a variety of other externally provided courses such as Health and Safety, First Aid and Driver Licensing.
The course involves unit based learning where students will develop a variety of industry techniques pertinent to the Hair and beauty industries. Students also have the opportunity to engage in community projects such as providing treatments in rest homes, whanau days and clients from our local school community.
Tutors on the course are from both Hairdressing and Beautician backgrounds and offer professional industry knowledge and experience pertinent to our young people entering a career in their chosen field.
