Kamo High School is a well resourced co-ed school in Whangarei of approximately 1,000 students. We believe in building respectful and meaningful relationships with our community and value whanaungatanga (relationships), whakapono (building integrity and trust) and Tūmanako (having high expectations of success) to inspire our students to aspire to be the best versions of themselves both personally and academically.

All teachers at Kamo High School (KHS) will work as a team with the leader of the student support centre (SSC) to support student wellbeing from Y9–13. It is an expectation that all staff at KHS assist in building learning experiences in a way that gives learners choice and agency, while supporting them to still gain necessary skills and knowledge to support them both in school, outside of school and beyond school. All teachers at Kamo High School are expected to contribute to the whānau system working collaboratively with the iwi deans to provide support and mentoring for all students.

Leaders at KHS will work as part of our Manukura (middle leadership), in conjunction with our deputy principals (Ngā Kākākura) to plan, develop and implement an innovative and responsive curriculum across Y9–13. The leader of the student support centre will lead the team to develop and provide opportunities that give learners choice and agency, while still gaining the necessary skills and knowledge for life beyond school. It is an expectation that all staff at KHS assist in building learning experiences in a way that gives learners choice and agency, while supporting them to still gain necessary skills and knowledge to support them both in school, outside of school and beyond school. All teachers at Kamo High School are expected to contribute to the whānau system working collaboratively with the whānau deans to provide support and mentoring for all students.

The team of the student support centre consists of DHB nurses, a youth worker, two part-time guidance counsellors, a social worker and a student support administrator.
