HE KŌRERŌ MAI I O MĀTOU RANGATIRA - A WORD FROM OUR PREFECT LEADERS
2024 Head Prefects
Please welcome our 2024 Head Prefects.
Kia Ora, my name is Paige Cleaver.
I have been at Kamo High School for five years now and this year I have the privilege of being a part of the Head Prefect team alongside Kaylie, Danni, Toby and Anna. I am also an Iwi Prefect for Waima, where I get to spread the iwi spirit and help out within our iwi.
Throughout my time at Kamo High I have had many great experiences and met many amazing people. I love playing netball, I have been playing since I was 5 years old and I currently play for Hikurangi netball club. Along with this I really enjoy camping out at the beach, especially going diving and being in the ocean.
One of my main goals as a Head Prefect this year is to ensure that all students feel comfortable, confident and supported within our school, getting involved and giving new things a go. I also hope to make positive changes within our school environment to keep on making it a great place where everyone feels they belong. If you see me about school, or have any questions, feel free to say hi or have a chat.
I look forward to getting to know everyone and I am excited to have a great year.

Kia ora, my name is Toby Hynes.
This is my fifth and final year at Kamo High School where I have been appointed as the one and only male Head Prefect. Alongside me is Danni, Paige, Kaylie and Anna together we make the Head Prefect team.
In the Head Prefect team I hope to leave behind a reputation as one of the best prefect teams the school has seen and to also make it easier for future Head Prefects to work and operate.
Along with being a Head Prefect I also a Sport Prefect. This is where my passion is. I love all sports with my main one being football but I am open to all sports. I also love going to the beach and chilling out with my friends and family.
I like to think of myself as friendly, so if you ever need anything or have any questions I am always open to have a chat. I look forward to seeing good participation from everyone and to have a chill final year of high school and to look to the future.

Kia ora, my name is Kaylie Nicholas.
I have the privilege to be one of the Head Prefects at Te Kura Tuarua O Te Kamo, Kamo High School. As well as this, I am a Kaha Prefect.
I absolutely love the whenua. From my māra to the ngahere to hiking and tramping to working with cattle on the farm. In every spare moment you can find me outside experiencing everything the whenua has to offer.
My goal as Head Prefect this year is to encourage everyone to ma te wa, live in the moment. This is a saying I have grown to appreciate, it has challenged me to participate, be comfortable with the uncomfortable and appreciate every moment as it may never happen again. This saying invites personal growth into everyone. Personal growth of each akonga is key for the growth of our Kura.
Don't ever feel whakama to talk to myself or any of the other Head Prefects. If you ever have any questions, ideas for our Kura, or just need someone to hang with or talk to, we are here for you. Feel free to email us or to come and have a chat anytime.
Ma Te Wa
Ngā Mihi Nui.

I have the privilege of being one of the Head Prefects at Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo this year. I have worked extremely hard over the past few years to bring what I believe is important to life within our kura, and as a community. I believe we continue to strive amongst these efforts.
Being a Head Prefect comes with great determination to create change, and leave a footprint of the hard work you complete throughout the year. This year alongside my head prefect/ prefect team, I want to see improvement of participation in school activities, by giving other students the opportunity to run and organize events that they are passionate about. Overall this will improve leadership skills, and it will be more effective in terms of participation.
I am also a Tuakiri Prefect this year, and my role is to make the people within and around our kura more aware of the different cultures amongst our community, and embrace those cultures to encourage pride and respect through and through. Culture is a very important aspect to everyone’s life, and I am over the moon to see more diversity being positively shown across our school.
My goal is to continue with this kaupapa, but with the title of Head Prefect there is so much more to be done in such a short time. With that being said, I will make the most of my last year in secondary school, and I will try my hardest to make it a year to remember for everyone at Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo.

Kia Ora, my name is Danni Cooper.
I have been given the responsibility and privilege of being one of the five Head Prefects for this year at Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo. I started Kamo High in 2020.
Throughout my years as a student I have gotten to know how awesome our school is and have grown to be extremely proud of it. I have represented Kamo High in a variety of different ways such as playing hockey, and I have attended many school trips such as OPC and the Blue Light Leadership programme on board the Steinlager 2 Yacht.
Last year I was one of the year 12 prefects and held the portfolio of “Wellness Prefect” which I am continuing on with this year. My goal for this year is to leave our school in a much better place. I want to help create a positive learning environment where everyone feels valued and can be themselves.
Both my parents attended Kamo High, my older sister graduated in 2022 and this year, my little sister is attending her first year as a year 9 student. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email any of the leadership team, including myself.

They will identify and work on an impact project to provide a positive outcome for our school and students. In addition to this they will undertake service activities for our school and community. These may include rostered duties such as looking after the properties room before and after school, lunch club and assisting with a variety of school events
